"EU welcomes Greek-Turkish Cypriot talks
The European Commission, the executive body of the European Union (EU), welcomed on Monday an agreement by the Greek and Turkish Cypriot leaders to revive talks on the future of the island.
'The fact that the leaders of the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities met three times in one week is an encouraging signal,' said EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn in a statement.
'The commission remains fully committed to supporting the resumption of such talks as soon as possible,' said the statement read out by Rehn's spokeswoman on Monday."
