"U.S. FIRMS AGAIN BOW OUT OF TURKISH BID
ANKARA [MENL] -- The United States has again refused to participate in a major Turkish military program.
U.S. companies refused to respond to a Request for Proposal for Turkey's basic trainer aircraft program. The companies included Raytheon, once regarded as the frontrunner in the $500 million project and the supplier of much of the Turkish air trainer fleet.
'Raytheon refused to compete according to our rules,' a Turkish government source said. 'They could change their minds at a later date, but we can't count on it.'"
