The Department of Religious affairs, having recently begun efforts to clear some of the supposed traditions claiming that it is lawful to beat a woman, is now undertaking the issue of animal rights.

Director of Religious Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ali Bardakoğlu believes that “Religious people should be opposed to killing animals for pleasure, including safaris and hunting. The luxury of hunting for pleasure needs to come to an end. The kind of technology available to us now has turned hunting an inhumane massacre leaving not a trace of the art it once was.”"
