"EU to push Turkey to free other-language broadcasting
The European Union will push Turkey to create complete freedom to broadcast programs in other languages and dialects for Ankara to fulfill the requirements for the chapter on information society and media as detailed screening of that chapter began yesterday.
While the Union says that Turkey has almost harmonized its laws with those of the EU concerning the chapter on information society and media, the 25-nation bloc is also asking Ankara to open its telecommunications market to competition, strengthen institutions regarding telecommunications, sign the European Convention on Cyber-Crime and make the necessary legal amendments for the electronic trade."
