"Cyprus votes as UN plan hangs heavy over poll

NICOSIA (Reuters) - Divided Cyprus elects a new parliament on Sunday set to boost the popularity of a leadership striving to wring concessions out of Turkey through Ankara's already troubled European Union entry talks.

Half a million Greek Cypriots are voting for 56 members of the House of Representatives. A small number of Turkish Cypriots are also voting for the first time since a constitutional crisis in 1963."
