Four men were formally charged with the killing of a senior Turkish judge, Turkey's semi-official Anatolia news agency reported on Sunday.

The four men, including an armed lawyer accused of shooting dead the judge, were charged by an Ankara court with 'attempting to change the constitution, planned murder and hurling explosives', according to the report.

If convicted, the defendants might face prison terms up to life sentences.

Meanwhile, five other people, who had been arrested and interrogated over the killing, were released by the court, said the report."
