Istanbul, 21 April (AKI) - Iran's announcement last week that it had successfully enriched uranium to make nuclear fuel sent ripples of concern through the region. Neighbouring Turkey voiced its concern, underlining that this move would only worsen the crisis of confidence between Iran and the international community stemming from the Tehran's controversial nuclear plans. There are a variety of issues shaping Ankara's role in the standoff - proximity and energy supplies at the top - and the threat, however distant, of a American military strike which would severely strain Turkey's close ties to the US."
