"President Warns of Fundamentalist Threat in Turkey

Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer has warned against the threat facing Turkey's secular system from the rise in Islamic fundamentalism.
In a speech made to Turkish officers late on Wednesday evening at the Military Academy in Ankara, Sezer declared: 'Religious fundamentalism has reached alarming proportions. Turkey's only guarantee against this threat is its secular order.'"
