LONDRA - TOPLUM POSTASI-Mangled Turkish or advantageous bilingualism

"Mangled Turkish or advantageous bilingualism

Code switching or the alternating use of two or more languages (English & Cypriot-Turkish) at a single time is increasingly common among second generation Turkish Cypriots both in the UK and in other diaspora communities, such as those in Australia, Canada, South Africa and New Zealand. But code switching carries a lot of stigma, as it often negatively regarded as an incorrect or misuse of language, or a double failure to express oneself in two or more languages. Code switchers are faced with opprobrium and ridicule."
