"International Connections presents 'Turkish Delight' April 4

International Connections, CSU's Tuesday brown-bag lunch series, presents 'Turkish Delight: Teaching Plant Biotechnology at a Turkish University' by Dr. Patrick F. Byrne, Associate Professor in the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences at CSU. The event runs from 12:15-1 p.m. April 4 in Room 208 of the Lory Student Center.

Due to its ancient history, vibrant culture and East-meets-West ambiance, Turkey is a fascinating country to experience. As a Fulbright Lecturing Fellow in the city of Adana, Byrne taught graduate courses in plant biotechnology in the fall semester of 2005. He found that the biggest challenge to teaching was the low level of English language comprehension by the students, combined with his lack of Turkish language skills. He addressed this problem in various ways, including a structured e-mail exchange between Turkish and CSU students."
