"Spanish Parliament speaker says Turkey's membership will enrich EU
Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, on an official visit to Spain, won Spanish support for Turkey's European Union membership bid on Thursday.
Spanish Parliament Speaker Manuel Marin to Gul both the ruling party and the opposition's support for Turkish membership and said, 'The Muslim-populated Turkish state will enrich the EU.'
During his meetings with Marin and Spanish King Juan Carlos, Gul underlined the strategic and historic importance of the EU for Turkey and stated that some Arab and Muslim countries take Turkey as a role model."
