Istanbul - The rearrest and imprisonment of Mehmet Ali Agca, the Turkish man convicted of attempting to assassinate the late Pope John Paul II in 1981, was greeted with widespread satisfaction in Istanbul Saturday.

Justice Minister Cemil Cicek told Turkish NTV television 'a judicial mistake' - which would have seen Agca released after 25 years behind bars - had been resolved according to the law."
