The amount of humans with avian flu in Turkey continues to rise slowly. However, the percentage of cases resulting in death – or even prolonged disease – is dropping much faster than that. While 'bird flu' infections and deaths in Turkey were widely reported in the US, the apparent vitiation of the flu bug has for some reason received less attention by mainstream, domestic media. Yet according to a report from Agence France Press, two more Turkish children have been released from the hospital after entering with bird flu symptoms. It is even beginning to look as though a combination of early treatment after infection, and a weakening mutation of the virus, may lead to less dire predictions of global pandemic."
