It seems as though two nations, albeit a continent away, and separated in time by hundreds of years has taken heed to the advice of the great Turkish leader.
At the bay city of Izmir, in the heart of the culture district is the Izmir State Museum of Paintings and Sculptures. It is a stunning display of over 400 masterpieces from the pencils, paintbrushes and carving tools of Turkey's finest artisans.
In Belgium and The Netherlands, the results are arguably the most fantastic images of the Renaissance period, paintings by the hallowed names of Jan van Eyck, Rembrandt van Rijn and Hans Memling."
