"German Chancellor: Turkey’s Full Membership in the EU is not Guaranteed

Berlin. “Turkey’s full membership in the EU is not guaranteed”, the new German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated, cited by AP. According to Merkel, the EU-Ankara talks are a “process with an open ending, whose result might not be guaranteed”. Merkel pointed out that in order for Turkey to become EU member, it has to answer to all European common criteria.
According to experts, EU-Ankara talks can go on for 15 or even 20 years. It is expected that in 2007 Bulgaria and Romania to become EU full members."
