"Earthquake hits Turkey

Istanbul - A moderately strong earthquake shook southeastern Turkey on Saturday, sending frightened residents out into the streets in panic, reports said.

There were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries.

The quake, with a preliminary magnitude of 5.3, was centred on the town of Puturge in Malatya province, the Istanbul-based Kandilli Observatory said. It struck at 15:56 GMT."
