Turkey did not Lose on the Way to EU, It Gained Much

"Turkey did not Lose on the Way to EU,It Gained Much

I was planning to write this column last year, some time before the recent discussions about the issue of entering the EU.

However, I have always postponed my important tasks until this, the 80thyear of mine, just like a child who continually postpones his homework.

Though it is very late now, I have finally managed to write down these words. After so much time has passed since then, my point of view on the subject and the behaviors of the players has expanded. While following the efforts my country has been making in the last decade in order to achieve the place in the EU that was promised, I had two totally opposite thoughts that clashed: Wishing or not wishing the enter. Will the efforts of entrance produce a result? If not, how harmful will its effects be to the Turkish people? We see that some noteworthy decisions are made in this course where the possibility of entrance is increased a great deal."
