"The first draft was not fair." says English Ambassador of Ankara, Peter Westmacott,. ‘There was not a fair agreement behind the Turkish side. Frankly I took a deep breath only when my colleagues came to say that an agreement was made.’
Semih Idiz, journalist of Hurriyet has made an interview with the Peter Westmacott, English Ambassador of Ankara. From my point of view, Peter Westmacott has not concealed his feelings and thoughts. But he did not hide that he had spent sleepless nights and exhausted days. He seems to be satisfied with the result. Here is an overview of the conversation:
- What is the most satisfying point after this difficult process?
- Surely the outcome is very
satisfying. I first came to Turkey twenty years ago. I wanted to come back after leaving and I waited for an opportunity to come back. Because I knew that the negotiation process would be very important. For me, the result is very exciting.
I could not sleep because of the ringing of telephones
