EU to herald Turkey's economy as 'active market economy'
The EU has announced plans to recognize Turkey starting next month as a working and active market economy. According to Reuters news coming from EU sources, the official acceptance of Turkey's economy as an active market economy will speed up accession talks for full membership between Turkey and the EU.
The EU authority speaking with Reuters said that the announcement of Turkey's official economy status would be made on November 9, and, said the source, "In the report, for the first time, Turkey will be counted as an active market economy. This will open the way for economic talks, as well as for economic stability and foreign investment."
