"Finland to have initial responsibility for Turkey EU membership talks

It appeared on Tuesday that the beginning of what are expected to be fairly difficult negotiations on Turkey’s possible membership in the European Union would largely fall on Finland’s shoulders.
Finland will hold the rotating EU Presidency in the second half of next year. In the first six months of 2006 the Presidency will be held by Austria, which has not warmed to the idea of having Turkey in the EU."
