"TURKEY-EU: 'WE'RE READY', SAYS PREMIER ERDOGAN
Naples, 2 Sept. (AKI) - Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday brushed aside reservations by some European states regarding Turkey's preparedness to start membership talks with the European Union and insisted that his country had met all the conditions set for the October 3 talks. 'We are ready and we've done all that was asked of us,' Erdogan said at a newsconference in Naples. 'Some European countries are creating problems for our membership of the EU, but in reality we are more ready than the 10 nations who have entered,' Erdogan said, referring to the new entrant countries who boosted EU membership from 15 to 25 in May 2004.
