ANKARA, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Turkish police arrested 28 supporters of a pan-Islamic party attempting to demonstrate at a mosque where Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan was performing Friday prayers, the state-run Anatolian news agency said.
Hizb ut-Tahrir aims to establish a world-wide Islamic state and is banned in Turkey, an overwhelmingly Muslim, but secular state. Britain has said it would also ban the party as part of a security crackdown after the July 7 London bombings.
