"COREPER Convenes for Counter Cyprus Declaration Today

The Committee of Permanent Representatives of EU countries, COREPER, has decided to convene in the afternoon today to seek conciliation over the counter declaration draft against Turkey's declaration on Cyprus.
COREPER failed to reach consensus over the counter declaration draft with the meetings it has held lately.
In a summit on 17 December 2004, the European Union Council, comprised of the state and government leaders of the Union countries, decided to start membership negotiations with Turkey on October 3 if the country met the required conditions."
