An exhibition about Istanbul has opened at a historical building, the Martin-Gropius-Bau, in Berlin.
The theme of the exhibition is Istanbul, which has entered a process of change together with the European cities, reflecting the cultures of both European and Asian lands. The exhibition was made possible with the support of The European Union (EU) Commission President Jose Manual Barroso and Berlin Provincial Prime Minister Klaus Wowereit. The works of art by 60 artists from 20 countries prepared on art, statute, film and photograph were spread over a 2000-square meter exhibition hall on the first floor of the Martin-Gropius-Bau. The exhibits reveal the differences between several cultural, religious and ethnical groups living in Istanbul. A portrait of Ataturk was also among the exhibits which relate to the Turkey-EU relationship. The exhibition featuring the works of Turkish artists Nevin Aladag and Asli Sungu will be open till October 3."
