Nowadays there is a discussion in Turkey regarding the future course to be followed in relations with the European Union.According to one view, as Europe has entered into a period of crisis and as prospects of Turkey's full membership in the block have been dimmed, Ankara should start following an honorable policy. Some feel Turkey should stop or at least slow down the reform process, halt signing the protocol extending the 1963 Ankara Association Agreement to cover all new EU countries, including the Greek Cypriot side as the sole government on Cyprus' and readjust its EU vocation according to developments in Europe.Another view is that Europe is in a crisis that could not be ignored by Turkey."
