"Greek and Austrian Leaders Lend Shoulder for Turkey's EU Bid

Distant to Turkey's European Union (EU) bid, Austrian President Heinz Fischer said membership negotiations scheduled for October 3 will not be postponed.
'Turkey was influenced by the French and the Dutch referendum results as well as other EU countries,' Fischer said in response to a question during a joint press conference with Greek President Carolos Papoulias during his official visit to Vienna. The Austrian President suggested that no one will be able to prevent the negotiations in this process, and clarified that talks should be held with unadulterated attention and consideration. On the other hand, Papoulias said Turkey belongs to Europe. "
