"Turkish Author Pamuk To Be Presented With Peace Award
BERLIN - The German Publishers' & Booksellers' Association has decided to present this year's peace award to Turkish author Orhan Pamuk.
According to a statement released by the Association, Pamuk can observe the historical traces of the West in the East, and that of the East in the West, better than many other authors.
Pamuk will receive the award on October 23rd, the last day of the Frankfurt Book Fair.
The Peace Prize, one of the most important awards given in Germany since 1950, is presented to dignitaries who have devoted their work to fostering international understanding between nations and peoples. "
