The event was in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow yesterday, but for a few moments Ugur Kart felt like he was back in his native Turkey.

Turkish flags waved from trees. Turkish music blared from loudspeakers. And the smells of Turkish delicacies like shish kebab wafted through the air.

'Perfect. We love it,' declared Kart, 29, of Smithtown, a graduate student at C.W. Post. 'I like to see my people.'"
