The European Union is reportedly working on a new formula to solve the deadlock on real estate and trade disputes between Turkish and Greek Cypriots.

The EU is preparing a formula to solve both problems by urging mutual concessions, according to Greek Cypriot media.

The formula is said to stipulate the preservation of the current status of real estates that once belonged to Greek Cypriots in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). These properties could no longer be bought or sold, though they would remain in the possession of their current owners. In exchange for this concession by Turkish Cypriots, the Greek Cypriots would be required to open the way to trade between EU countries and the TRNC, wrote Greek Cypriot daily Fileleftheros."
