"Court says Turkish trial of Kurdish rebel was unfair

The European Court of Human rights ruled on Thursday that the leader of the PKK Kurdish rebel movement which fought a deadly war with Turkey in the 1980s and 1990s did not receive a fair trial when he was jailed for life six years ago.
Upholding a judgement first issued in 2003, Europe's top human rights court found that the trial of Abdullah Ocalan breached international treaties, that the process was not independent and fair, and that he was denied access to his legal representatives."
