"Kyprianou meets with Turkish Minister

THE FIRST meeting between a top Turkish official and the Cypriot EU Commissioner Markos Kyprianou was held in Brussels, Monday, proving that sooner or later Ankara is led to the 'de facto recognition' of the Republic.
The 90-minute meeting with Turkish Agriculture Minister Sami G�cl� took place in Kyprianou's office at the Commission.
The minister was accompanied by two under-secretaries, the Turkish permanent representative to the EU and technocrats.
Commission sources pointed to the 'political importance' of the meeting, which reinforces the argument that sooner or later Ankara will have to face the realities stemming from Cyprus' accession to the EU.
G�cl� treated the Cypriot Commissioner with due respect, the Mail has learned, while as one would expect there was no mention of Cyprus or the Cyprus problem. "
