JTW News - US Turkish groups to Bush: Don't forget other victims

"Turkish groups to Bush: Don't forget other victims
The New Anatolian / Ankara

A letter was sent last week to U.S. President George W. Bush by Cengiz Vural, president of the American-Turkish Associations (ATAA), asking him to include the innocent victims of other nations as well in his traditional declaration to commemorate the so-called Armenian genocide.

Cengiz praised Bush's support for the Turkish-U.S. friendship despite pressure coming from some groups to harm relations between the two countries. We're grateful for your impartiality on the Ottoman tragedy during the First World War, Cengiz wrote in the letter. And we request that you also remember the other victims that died during those years in revolts, domestic conflicts, resettlement, illness, and hunger in your declaration of April 24."
