"French Media: France Must Show Good Example before Criticizing Turkey
The French newspaper Le Monde has criticized the police brutality that occurred at a demonstration by a group of high school students and commented that while France criticizes Turkey's membership to European Union (EU), it should set a good example for Turkey in terms of individuals' freedoms.
Le Monde reacted fiercely in the editorial against the use of brut force by police against the students.
The article referred to the incidents that took place before the International Women's Day celebrations in Istanbul and that the police used 'excessive force' against women attending the demonstrators. Turkish police claimed after the demonstrations that most of the women arrested were militants. The Turkish Govermnet said the militant groups try to sabotage Turkey's EU process."
