"Continued unfairness to Turkish Cypriots could add to volatility

From Lord Monson.

Sir, Turkish Cypriots enthusiastically endorsed the Annan plan for a Cyprus settlement in the referendum held on April 24 last year. In consequence, the European Union and the UK government both pledged to end the isolation of Northern Cyprus, notwithstanding the Greek Cypriots' rejection of the United Nations plan in their parallel referendum.
With the first anniversary of the referendums due, it is shocking to note that not a single embargo has been lifted, despite these pledges. Contrary to the mandate given by EU ministers to the Commission to end their isolation, the Turkish Cypriots are still denied direct trade, travel and communications. The Greek Cypriot government continues to frustrate all EU efforts."
