Popular and official political circles in Turkey on Wednesday showed consensus on rejecting the foreign intervention in the Syrian-Turkish relations. The circles said the expected visit of Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer to Syria is very important and that it serves the Middle East region.

'Our party strongly backs the decision of President Sezer to visit Syria,' chief of the opposition Republican People's Party, Denig Baykal, said in a statement following Sezer's announcement in which he showed determination to visit Syria.

Meanwhile, Turkish diplomatic sources stressed that Turkey is the sole country that has the right to decide its relations with other countries.

Turkish people also said that there is no party in the world, whatever powerful it is, that has the right to intervene in the internal affairs of sovereign countries, adding that Syria is a friendly and neighboring country to Turkey."
