Aleksis Dimitriades stumbled out of the Saray casino in Nicosia. 'I just lost thousands of pounds,' he said. Mr Dimitriades is among hundreds of Greek Cypriots who cross daily into Turkish-controlled northern Cyprus to gamble in casinos that are officially banned on their side of the island.
Outraged Greek Cypriot authorities accuse them of shoring up the Turkish Cypriots' tottering economy. 'They are seen as traitors,' said a Western diplomat."
