"Minister slams deputy over Turkish reinforcements
DEFENCE Minister Koullis Mavronikolas yesterday censured an opposition deputy who suggested that reports about the reinforcement of the Turkish occupying forces were being leaked by the government in an attempt to create impressions.
DISY deputy Costas Constantinou suggested that the occupying forces were merely replacing their armaments and that the matter was leaked by the government in an attempt to make political gains.
Speaking before the House Defence Committee yesterday, Constantinou said he was expressing his personal opinion based on information he had that the Turkish army was rotating its units.
In an effort to turn the tables, Constantinou accused the government of not doing enough to reinforce the National Guard."
