The accession negotiations with the European Union will start on Oct. 3. Nothing different there. News coming from Brussels insinuates that the actual negotiations on paragraphs or sections will start at the end of 2005 or early 2006.
At first commentators started to say, See, the EU has once again started to drag its feet. Delays will come. However, there is nothing to worry about. Such a possibility was always present. Similar delays also occurred during negotiations with other countries. The most typical example is Spain. The EU Commission waited two years before starting negotiations with Spain. They postponed the proceedings with various excuses. The reason was the fears in member countries. Spain was kept waiting for two years for fear of Spanish workers flooding the market. "
