"Turks to Show 1,000 Years of Art at London's Royal Academy
Jan. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Turkey is seeking to improve its cultural profile as it steps up political efforts to join the European Union.
``Turks: A Journey of a Thousand Years, 600-1600'' opens on Jan. 22 at London's Royal Academy of Arts, which says it raised more than 795,000 pounds ($1.5 million) for the show from Turkish and other businesses. About 250,000 visitors are expected, said Royal Academy spokeswoman Susie Pickering. "
