Arab Monitor - Turkish Foreign Minister in Ramallah

"Turkish Foreign Minister in Ramallah

Ramallah, 5 January - Coming from Israel, the Foreign Minister of Turkey, Abdullah Ghul arrived in Ramallah today and addressed the Palestinian parliament declaring that establishing an independent Palestinian state is a requirement for achieving peace, whereas 'the policies of pressures and sieges imposed by Israel on the Palestinian territories will not achieve peace and security in the region. Security alone cannot bring peace to the Middle East and the policy of violence and terrorism will only serve the enemies of peace.' Ghul also urged the Israeli government to coordinate it's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip with the Palestinian Authority as a first step to relaunching negotiations over the implementation of the US-sponsored Roadmap towards an independent Palestinian state, urging contemporaneously the Palestinian Authority to introduce badly needed political and economic reforms in order to help build the future Palestinian state.
