Turkey: The world's crossroad

This summer two fellow teachers (Mark Hafer and Cynthia Hartman from the Harrisburg School District) and I had plenty of time during our 15-hour flight to ponder what we’d see as soon as we landed in Turkey. Would we see camels? Endless deserts? Come across many a passer-by covered in the full burqa? Meet an anti-American attitude? Would my mother’s fears of coming across a terrorist come true?
