Austrian Ambassador in Ankara Marius Calligaris said yesterday that Turkey had proved that its top priority and goal was European Union membership but warned that certain issues in domestic politics, for example, debates on an alcohol ban, should not be linked to the country's negotiating process with the 25-nation bloc. "
