"Turkish Succeeds Root Cell Transplant
A diabetic man in Gaziantep is the first person to receive stem cell treatment in Turkey. The procedure, in order to save the man's foot, required an injection of cells that would enable damaged tissue to grow faster.
Huseyin Sokmen, 49, lost his big toe when the circulation to it was cut-off. His orthopedist, Dr. Turgut Kirkgoz, called Celles 4 laboratories in The Netherlands for advice on how to transplant stem cells so that he could save the man's foot. Dr. Carnellis Kleinbloesem answered Dr. Kirkgoz by visiting him at the Gaziantep Social Security Hospital. "
