"Turkish exports slump 22 pct as EU demand shrinks
ISTANBUL, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Turkish exports fell 22 percent year-on-year in November, in line with expectations, as demand from Turkey's key export markets shrank due to the effects of the global financial crisis.
November exports amounted to $8.659 billion, the Turkish Exporters Association (TIM) said Monday, down from $11 billion last year.
The TIM figures, which come almost a month ahead of official data and tend to herald the trend, show Turkey will not be able to rely on exports to spur domestic economic growth to the same extent as in recent years.
The automotive industry was hardest hit among Turkey's top five exporting sectors -- witnessing a 37.9 percent drop to $1.4 billion from last year's $2.254 billion."
