"Wilson Says P.K.K. Problem Should Be Resolved
ISTANBUL - U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Ross Wilson said on Tuesday that the United States did not want Turkey to be troubled by the terrorist organization PKK, adding that the PKK problem should be resolved.
Speaking at a luncheon hosted by Turkish-American Businessmen's Association (TABA-AmCham) in Istanbul, Wilson said that the terrorist organization PKK could not shelter in Iraq for a long time after formation of a powerful central government in Baghdad.
He noted that the United States had been cooperating with Turkey to halt financial resources of the terrorist organization.
Upon a question about the visit of Hamas leaders to Turkey in February, Wilson said that many U.S. congressmen expressed anger and concern about the visit. He noted that the visit disappointed many U.S. politicians.
Replying to a question about Iran, Wilson said that an international consensus should be created to prevent Iran from maintaining its nuclear efforts.
Wilson extended the United States' support to Turkey's EU process, and highlighted importance of Turkish government's completing economic and political reforms with determination."
