For a while media and public opinion were busy with discussions regarding Turkey's relations with the United States. The issue seems to be in the spotlight again.
The writer of this article also discussed the relationship between these two allies and pleaded with them to be more forbearing. I should mention right now that our relations with the United States are different from those with other countries. This is also the way it should be. This relationship, which rests on mutual respect and accordance of national interests, has been improving since the Korean War. Some hitches encountered during the course of the relationship were easily smoothed away."
